Grafton Primary School for L B Islington Eco-building constructed from solid spruce panels and external fitted wood fibre insulation giving low embodied energy and forming a breathable skin. The rain funnels into a large ceramic pot which feeds an underground rainwater harvesting tank for the WC and the nature garden. Heat exchange units control ventilation and limit heat loss. The dramatic roof has a strong presence in the playground and the building has panoramic child height windows. |
